Appliance Classes
Class 1
This class of equipment will most likely have exposed live parts and basic insulation, such as desktop computers or fan heaters. Includes any equipment with an earth connection from the mains.
Class 2a
Generally, this class of equipment will have two layers of insulation and exposed metalwork, such as a desktop calculator or dictation machine.
Class 2b
This class may have exposed metal work that is unearthed and separated from live parts by 2 layers of insulation and would include equipment such as a power drill, or circular saw.
Class 3
